Housing
We offer a private room in a safe, tranquil home located in South Omaha for you and your children. We believe in keeping families together!
Transportation
We will transport you to your doctor’s appointments, job, school and other activities related to your path. We offer transportation Monday-Saturday 8:15am-4:00pm. As you progress through our program, we will connect you with one of our community resources to find you safe and reliable transportation.
Education
If education is your path, we will help you continue the education you have started, enroll in GED classes, or attend college. Through our list of resources, we can connect you with scholarship opportunities in the community.
Life Skills
We will teach you how to plan and prepare meals for your family. You will also learn how to organize and care for a home. Our volunteers will teach you how to manage finances, care for your vehicle, and assist you with the items on your individual path.
Job Assistance
We will help you prepare a resumé, apply for jobs, and connect with our community employment resources. We are a working program! We encourage our residents to be working or going to school.
health & Well Being
At Mater Filius, we help you arrange your healthcare appointments and provide transportation to and from your appointments. Our nutrition workshop, focus on education, spirituality workshop and boutique will help build you up in spirit, mind and body!
Child enrichment
We offer our residents and graduates, at no cost, an Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) and our Lighthouse Preschool. The ECLC serves children 6 weeks through 3 years of age. The Lighthouse Preschool serves children ages 3 through Kindergarten.
Boutique
We offer our residents and graduates access to our BLU*tique. The boutique provides new and gently used clothes, shoes, toiletries, baby items, accessories, housewares and many other items.
graduate support
After you leave Mater Filius, you are not alone! A member of our professional staff will be in contact with you to help you with any of life’s emergencies. You will be eligible to shop in our boutique and enjoy monthly workshops for graduates. Your children will enjoy the ECLC at no cost.
