What To Expect

Pregnant and ready for change?
Here we give you all the support you need.

Mater Filius of Nebraska is a Catholic apostolate created to help women facing an unexpected pregnancy who find themselves without support.

When facing an unexpected pregnancy, there are many fears and challenges that can seem overwhelming. Our staff and programs help women deal with these challenges. Here are some of the most common concerns we have heard over the years by young women who did not expect their pregnancy:

  • I’m just not ready to have a child.
  • How can I afford to have this baby?
  • How do I tell my family and/or friends?
  • What if the father of the baby is not supportive?
  • What if I am considering abortion?
  • How does adoption work?
  • How can I continue my education?
  • Where will I live?

The supportive staff of Mater Filius understands very well that each person’s situation is unique. We are here to help every young woman deal with her concerns through our professional, caring and life-affirming programs.

How Does Mater Filius Help?

Teenagers and women with children under the age of five are welcome regardless of their ethnicity, marital status, religious beliefs or socio-economic status.

Women receive housing, counseling, medical care, and emotional and spiritual support at no cost to them. Through workshops, they learn how to parent. Through prayer, they understand the love that Jesus Christ has for them and they have the right to be loved!

Mater Filius focuses on both the unborn baby and the mother. We embrace women and offer them safety and peace inside our home. A stable and nurturing environment is essential to a healthy pregnancy, healthy birth, and a healthy, new parent.

In our own way, our home offers a dynamic and vibrant family life. Each member of the house, regardless of their role, is changed profoundly by the experience. In this way, Mater Filius not only provides for the physical and emotional needs of the pregnant women who are our guests, but also encourages the growth of the donors, volunteers, and staff.
