What to Expect

Are you ready for God to affect change in your life?

The goal of Mater Filius Nebraska is to prepare women to be successful mothers in the many challenging and rewarding aspects of raising their children.

When facing an unexpected pregnancy…

…there are many fears and challenges that can seem overwhelming. Our staff and programs help women face these challenges.

Some common concerns may be:

I’m just not ready to have a child.
How can I do this on my own?
How can I afford to have this baby?
What about daycare?
How do I tell my family and/or friends?
How can I continue my education?
What if the father of the baby is not supportive?
Where will I live?

How Does Mater Filius Help?

Our home offers a dynamic and vibrant family life. Each member of the house, regardless of their role, is changed profoundly by the experience. In this way, Mater Filius not only provides for the physical and emotional needs of the pregnant women, but also encourages the growth of the donors, volunteers, and staff.

Teenagers and women with children under the age of five are welcome regardless of their ethnicity, marital status, religious beliefs or socio-economic status.
Through workshops, mothers learn how to parent. Through prayer, they understand the love that Jesus Christ has for them.
Women receive housing, counseling, assistance accessing medical care, emotional and spiritual support at no cost to them.
A stable and nurturing environment is essential to a healthy pregnancy, a healthy birth, and healthy parenting.

Mater Filius Supports Life, Transforms Lives

Shelby, seven months pregnant and malnourished, had two black eyes and a broken nose when she walked into Mater Filius of Nebraska.

Earlier, a case worker, frustrated with Shelby’s no-show for visitations with her 7-year-old daughter, had persisted in trying to reach her.

She finally located Shelby, beaten and her cell phone smashed, and took her to the hospital, then to Mater Filius.
